Barn Quilt Trail

If you look around Norman County, you may notice barn quilts popping up on houses, barns, sheds, and fences.

What is a barn quilt and where are they found?

Barn quilts are beautiful displays of Americana Folk Art and celebrate women’s contributions to agriculture. They are located through farm country in more than thirty states and Canada.

A Barn quilt uses a quilt pattern painted on wood and is composed of several geometric patterns painted in bright colors. Making a barn quilt may develop your love of quilting, farm life, honor a loved one or brighten your home or yard.

Norman County Historic Barn Quilt Trail (NCHBQT)

Over the past year, the NCHBAQT committee has presented eight workshops with over 150 beautiful barn quilts created. The goal is to develop a trail of quilts across Norman County. NCHBQT wants to highlight our local history and culture while increasing the economic development of our county and preserving our artistic and agricultural heritage. NCHBQT invites you to join our movement by taking a class or displaying a barn quilt.
